Ministry Strips Baku Girls University of Accreditation, Moves to Cancel Its License
BAKU — Azerbaijan's Ministry of Science and Education has stripped Baku Girls University of its accreditation and begun proceedings to shut down the institution, following a July 10 review that found the university's programs did not meet state education standards.
The Accreditation Council's assessment concluded the university's institutional and program accreditation results were "not compliant," citing serious inconsistencies in meeting state education standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance rules. On July 30, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy revoked the university's operating license (No. EL-358/2018, originally issued September 11, 2018) at the Ministry of Science and Education's request.
The Ministry said students currently enrolled at Baku Girls University will be transferred to other universities in matching specialties to protect their right to continued education. Officials described the accreditation system's purpose as ensuring quality in higher education and safeguarding student rights.
